“This Director will be joining my new team to help us build the Commercial aspects for EA’s Competitive Gaming Division.  EA’s Competitive Gaming titles include fastest growing video game of all time, the newly launched APEX Legends, as well as the established, dominant sports titles of EA SPORTS FIFA and EA SPORTS Madden.  Over time, this set of titles is likely to expand further.  With Competitive Gaming viewership booming, we have the opportunity to nurture viewers, turn them into real fans, and create the business and revenue elements of sport around them.  This is a young part of the huge video game industry, and we are at the forefront of shaping it, and building it into the future.  It is a very exciting time to get on board and help us build and grow it all.”

The Director of Growth and Commercialization is key to building our nascent team’s business and our internal and external partnerships.  He or she will help us build our business and our internal and external partnerships. 

  • Drive multi-faceted growth opportunities:  This leader’s influence will drive several aspects of CGD’s business.  We will look to this person to help as we explore and plot a path forward for different competitive structures and partnerships and as we explore how to best grow our audiences, working in collaboration with other internal EA teams
  • Internal PartnershipThis person will take the lead for our CGD team in working closely with our internal partner, the Global Brand Partners (GBP) team to build revenues and capabilities into the future.  Work together with GBP to find ways to drive incremental revenues.  Help design and build improved global sponsorship partnerships, intelligence and capabilities.  
  • Form future partnerships:Lead and support conversations around future partnerships. Ability to lead the discussions with partners to push progress towards a deal forward. Develop compelling data analysis, materials and lead discussions to excite potential partners about what we are doing and why they should partner with EA. 
  • Foundation information and insights:  Work across the Commercialization areas to gather and synthesize internal and external information to help inform our decisions and approaches.  Turn this into compelling, persuasive insights to help us drive growth.
  • Ongoing planning:This person will help put together a long-range plan for the Commercialization Sponsorship and other growth initiatives and make sure that they remains dynamic in a rapidly changing environment
  • International:Over time, international efforts will become more and more important, and this role may be involved in supporting those initiatives

Required Work Experience and Skills:

  • Experience: 8+ years in video game industry, traditional sports and/or esports is required. 
  • Experience in forming partnerships and negotiating deals with external entities.  Experience with business development, business affairs and supporting analysis
  • Understanding of the sponsorship sales process, either direct selling, or being a significant part of the sponsor partnership cycle is an advantage.  Understanding of sports sponsorships is important
  • It is also beneficial to have experience across any of the following: digital media, marketing / audience development, sports business, video games, or competitive / esports gaming, in a business-oriented role
  • All of our team members will have to be able to shift quickly and flexibly, and assume new roles and responsibilities as we grow and change.  We’re looking for well-rounded professionals who thrive in the dynamic and evolving competitive gaming sector.
  • Traditional sports experience a plus
  • Excellent communication and project management skills
  • Ability to independently accomplish work
  • Analytical, quantitative
  • Digital savvy
  • Presentation Skills. Experience in creating and delivering persuasive, clear, concise presentations
  • Information gathering skills. Experience with online research, social media research, intuitive and creative in finding information
  • Internal collaborator.  Much of our work is done with other groups within EA
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree. MBA preferred
