Browns skyrocket in fan relevance among NFL teams

The NFL as a whole is bouncing back in a big way with the fans after a rough couple of seasons filled with controversy. And the Cleveland Browns are a big part of the league’s resurgence in popularity with fans.

According to the NFL Relevance Rankings from Samford University’s Center for Sports Analytics, the Browns have spearheaded the growth in fan interest and relevance.

Cleveland Browns boast a 16 percent increase, but more impressively, have climbed four spots in the newest rankings (No. 25 to No. 21), which was the biggest positional gain of any NFL team. On their way to No. 21 they passed the Arizona Cardinals, Washington Redskins, Indianapolis Colts and New York Jets.

The data is based on research surveying over 7 million North American sports fans, tracking social media and fan engagement with their teams in all sports. The NFL’s overall relevance ranking is up nearly 10 percent over one year ago.
