With 2019 more than halfway over, here is a look at the highest rated and most-watched sports telecasts of the year so far.
The NFL has generated the ten largest sports audiences this year, led by Super Bowl 53. The Super Bowl tied its lowest rating since 2003 and averaged its smallest TV audience since 2008, but still generated 98 million viewers on linear TV alone (100 million including streaming, and 112 million including Nielsen’s out-of-home estimates).
The AFC Championship ranks second for the year (27.5, 53.9M) and the NFC Championship third (24.5, 44.1M).
Outside of the NFL, the Clemson-Alabama college football national championship holds the top spot among 2019 sporting events (13.8, 25.3M). The Virginia-Texas Tech college basketball championship ranks second (11.6, 19.6M), followed by Games 5 and 6 of the NBA Finals.
The Women’s World Cup Final ranks fifth among non-NFL events, with a combined 16.9 million for the match portion on FOX and Telemundo.

What happened to all that talk about the NFL is dying or some labeled it the Not For Long League? More people watched NFL wild card games than Clemson-Alabama (NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP) or Virginia-Texas Tech (NCAAB NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP)
Say nothing how there was a larger audience watching the first round of the NFL Daft than the final round of the MASTERS (Tiger wins) , MLB ALL STAR GAME and the Daytona 500.
Where are the WNBA games?
The 2018 WNBA WNBA All-Star Game had 709 k viewers on ABC. The 2018 finals had even less viewers.
You are joking right? I’m not sure if you made a list of the 1,000 most watched sports programs in 2019 so far that you’d even get to a WNBA game.
maybe it’s just me but right now I would say that college football is probably the third most popular sport in America. Right now the NBA, thanks to the off-season, is second behind the NFL.
You’re right. It’s just you. Did you see the list? Final 4 games, all the biggest college football games, and the KENTUCKY. DERBY. had more views than the NBA FINALS.
