Former NBA Players Matt Barnes and Stephen Jackson Launch New Video Podcast With Showtime

Showtime is launching a new video podcast hosted by former NBA players Matt Barnes and Stephen Jackson. The weekly show, All The Smoke, will debut Oct. 21.

New video episodes of All The Smoke will upload every Thursday to Showtime’s new basketball-themed YouTube channel. An audio-only version of the show will also be distributed across major podcasts platforms.

Barnes and Jackson will discuss their opinions on current topics surrounding basketball, culture, social justice, politics, and music. Guests on the show will include other NBA players and various public figures. Barnes and Jackson, who both enjoyed 14-year NBA careers, will serve as executive producers for the digital series. Episodes will last one hour.

“Both men are eager to break down tough topics and engage in unfiltered conversations and intelligent debate with listening and empathy at the core, a novel approach in this era,” Brian Dailey, SVP of sports digital content and strategy at Showtime, said in a press release.

Past basketball-related content produced by Showtime includes a three-part docuseries, Shut Up and Dribble, narrated by journalist Jemele Hill. Showtime also distributed a documentary on former NBA player Ron Artest that was originally produced by Bleacher Report. The network’s new basketball YouTube channel could house similar documentaries in the future.
